►LIVE EDGE WOOD: The natural edges, wavy grain lines, quilting, unique colors, knots and bark inclusions are the characteristics that define live edge wood. Each wood slab has specific feature and will vary from log to log milled. The pictures shown on this page is evident of the varying difference in grain patterns and characteristics of the wood. Please contact garie@gccreativeworks.com for ordering and availability information. ►MATERIAL: Arizona grown desert hardwood is uniquely hand-crafted and custom designed from weathered-down trees found in the suburban metropolitan Phoenix area. By acquiring desert hardwood logs from tree services and individuals, allows me to create 100% sustainable, repurposed live edge wood designs. Both sides of the slab goes to a router sled table to obtain desired flat surface and thickness. As the wood slab ages, noticeable cracks on the wood may appear due to its natural dry cracking process and changes in humidity and temperature. Any voids or cracks from the wood are sealed with epoxy to maintain integrity of the wood. OIL FINISH: Hand rubbed finish using OLD MASTERS gel polyurethane clear satin gel or spar marine finish varnish. It brings out the natural beauty of wooden surfaces; durable coating for use on wood surfaces and contains ultraviolet absorbers for advanced sun protection. FRACTAL ART: A process of applying 20,000 volts of electricity to the wood surface recreating a lightning strike in slow motion as well as unique abstract figures, tree and vein like shapes. (Optional) EPOXY INLAY: Any voids or cracks from the wood are sealed with epoxy to maintain the integrity of the wood. Epoxy inlay with clear or color pigment is also use to seal the burns created during fractal art process on the surface of the wood. METAL BASE: I highly recommend metal base for live-edge wood tables. It provides added strength for supporting desert hardwood. The focus should be on the top and not the frame that holds it. The combination of live-edge top and metal base showcase a modern industrial feel. If you have a different metal base preference, I can assist with the design to ensure the required specifications are met. Adjustable leveling feet is recommended when shopping for a metal base. It’s an ideal solution for keeping the furniture balanced in an uneven surface.
